For I know, she stands guard o’er the birthplace of this Newfie boy”.

Iron Skull Mountain is the highest mountain in Fortune Bay and is 1129 feet/344 meters high. I would rate this trail as difficult and recommend the use of a hiking stick.  Allow 4 to 5 hours (return) for the hike.

I also suggest that when you start the final rocky climb up,  you leave some sort of marker to the wooded trail area. When we started down, we had a little difficulty connecting with the trail again.  My husband climbed down through the trees walked across the mountain until he connected with the trail and then let us know his whereabouts. I just received my TTT newsletter for 2016 and unfortunately I can’t attend this year, but I certainly recommend this festival.   Norris Point and Woody Point are breathtaking!

This festival provides everything I love…hiking, entertainment, meeting new people and exploring new places. People come from all over Canada and the United States for this event. Trails Tales Tunes May 20-29 2016  what an adventure it will be!

After sipping refreshments on the dock outside of The Cat Stop Pub and Grub, we did a little hike. Amazing vistas, but the seaweed is slippery! A little over zealous when surrounded by such beauty, I took a little dip in the water!

One of the guided hikes we did.  Layers of clothing were removed the further we walked.

A ghostly tale for Halloween…..has our beloved Grassy Island been inhabited by evil spirits?

I decided that I wanted to explore a favourite childhood haunt, Grassy Island and my husband headed the boat in that direction.
